Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from Nairobi and a scenic drive past Mount Kenya into the rugged landscapes of northern Kenya. Arrive in Samburu National Reserve in time for lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy your first game drive across this semi-arid wilderness, home to the unique Samburu Special Five: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and the gerenuk. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Spend the day exploring Samburu’s beautiful terrain, including the Ewaso Nyiro River where elephants and other wildlife gather to drink. Morning and afternoon game drives allow ample time to spot lions, leopards, cheetahs, and a variety of birds. You may also choose an optional cultural visit to a Samburu village for a deeper cultural experience. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive south through the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive at your lodge for lunch before heading out on an afternoon game drive. Explore the woodlands, grasslands, and lakeshore in search of white and black rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, lions, buffalos, zebras, and diverse bird species. Enjoy breakfast and continue your journey to the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. Arrive at your camp or lodge in time for lunch, then embark on your first Mara game drive. The Mara is known for its high concentration of wildlife, including the Big Five and — in migration season — massive herds of wildebeest. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Today offers a full day to discover the beauty of the Maasai Mara. With a packed picnic lunch, venture deep into the reserve in search of lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, buffalos, and the plentiful plains wildlife. Visit the Mara River, home to hippos and crocodiles, and the site of dramatic migration crossings during July–October. After an enriching day, return to your camp for dinner and overnight.
Depart the Maasai Mara after breakfast and drive to Lake Naivasha, arriving in time for lunch. The afternoon is at leisure — relax by the lakeside, enjoy the peaceful gardens, or take an optional boat ride to spot hippos and birds. You may also visit Crescent Island for a guided walking safari among giraffes and zebras. Dinner and overnight in Naivasha.
After breakfast, drive south to Amboseli National Park, arriving in the late afternoon. Enjoy stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro as you settle into your lodge. Depending on your arrival time, you may take a short sunset game drive across Amboseli’s iconic plains. Dinner and overnight in Amboseli.
